Meet the Teachers

Joletta Sells (piano, owner of HMM) Joletta has been teaching music for ten years. She is an active member of the Music Teacher’s Association of California, she serves as the Music Director at Calvary Presbyterian Church, and she is a songwriter.

Nate Rich 
(guitar, ukulele) Originally from Georgia, Nate made the trek to LA to study guitar at the prestigious Musicians Institute in Hollywood. Upon graduation, he was immediately offered a staff position. Nate is a highly sought-after performer in all music genres including heavy metal, funk and country.


Shealeigh Atkinson 
(voice) Shealeigh is a native of Pennsylvania and a recent vocal performance graduate of the Musicians Institute in Hollywood. Shealeigh can sing any genre and has 11 years performance experience, 14 years songwriting experience and many years of teaching! 

Boris Karpuk 
(piano) Boris has earned a Masters of Music degree in piano performance from CSUN, where he studied under world-renowned pianist, Dmitry Rachmanov. Boris has been teaching for over ten years and is an active performer and accompanist.

Charlotte Betry (flute)
 Charlotte holds a Master of Music degree in flute performance from CSUN. She performs in several local orchestras, including the Wyndfall Chamber Orchestra and the Sterling Flute Choir. She has been teaching for eight years and is an active member of the MTAC. 


Quentin Purviance (percussion)
 Quentin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Studies (percussion emphasis) from the Conservatory of Music at University of the Pacific. He currently resides in Los Angeles where he performs a little bit of everything.


Kat Standefer (piano, flute)
 Kat is a lively and energetic teacher! She is a graduate of the University of Michigan and USC in flute performance. She is versatile in her performing abilities and teaching strategies, making each lesson unique and exciting.

Mike Victory (percussion)
 Mike has been teaching students to rock out since 1996, including teaching gigs at San Gabriel Christian School, Arcadia Christian School, and South Pasadena Public School. His uncanny way of making students feel comfortable gets them rockin’ on the drums in no time!

Hunter Harris (violin, viola, cello)
 Hunter is an excellent teacher with experience in both the public classroom and private lessons, earning his music degree from the University of South Carolina. He specializes in early music and has studied with notable baroque violinist, Susan Feldman.

Lonnie Urven (saxophone) 
Lonnie earned his degree in music from Indiana Wesleyan University where he was principal saxophone of the university Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble and Saxophone Quartet.  Proficient on soprano, alto, tenor, and bari, he has performed for thousands in settings ranging from classical to jazz to pop.


Caleb Russell (violin, viola, piano)
 Caleb has taught private lessons for over six years. He is a major player in the Los Angeles music scene, including studio work on chart-topping albums. He attended master classes in the US and abroad and studied under Roza Kostewska Yoder at the Chopin Academy.
